Is that hard for you to do? Love yourself?

For so many of us, proclaiming the things we love about ourselves isn’t easy to do. We can pick ourselves apart and write a laundry list of things we don’t love, or focus on the long list of “to-dos” we feel we can’t complete,  but when it comes to seeing the beauty inside of us, we tend to come up a little short. 

But did you know that loving qualities of ourselves will help us become better business owners? 

It’s true. Finding things we love about the person we have become helps to grow our confidence, which in turn helps ignite our strength in building a successful brand. No matter what we are selling, we are the brand, we are the thing people are buying. And when we can’t find things to love about ourselves it’s going to be hard for people to do the same. 

We can’t expect people to buy-in to a person that doesn’t even buy-in to themselves. And when we aren’t walking in our own confidence, trust us, it shows to our audience. 

So we have a little challenge for you. We want you to make a list of just three things you love about yourself. 

Maybe it’s your hair, or your eyes, or your bubbly personality. Maybe it’s the fact that you keep a tidy house or spend time exercising every day. Maybe it’s the fact that you take time for self-care each and every day and feel zero regrets. Whatever it is that you truly love about yourself, write it down. We’re asking for three, but if you have ten or twenty, even better! 

And don’t you dare say you can’t think of any. We aren’t accepting that answer today. 

Now, take your list and write down WHY you love that those things. 

It’s not enough to say we love our long legs or we love our heart for others. We have to know why we love that about ourselves. That’s our superpower. That’s how we truly connect with our confidence to present ourselves in a positive light. 

And now let’s take that a level deeper. Why is your reason for loving that part of yourself important to you?

Have we lost you yet? Let’s look at an example.

Something I love about myself: My long legs. 

Why I love that: They make me feel strong. 

Why that’s important to me: There was a time in my life where I felt like I had no strength to do hard things. 

Simple, right? See how you can take yourself from recognizing something as simple as a physical feature and uncover something greater? Something deeply rooted within? 

Knowing these things about yourself will help you stay better connected to your confidence. That third level is what is going to be a constant reminder of the beauty inside of us. It’s the thing that is going to keep us connected to the idea that we are worthy. And when we can see the beauty in ourselves, there is no way it can stay hidden to our audience. 

People are buying our product or service sure, but before we can get them to buy what it is we’re offering, we have to get them to believe in us.

And the only true way we can sustain this kind of buy-in is to simply believe it ourselves. Can we get an amen?
