I’ve always been a dreamer. And I just got done dreaming up something really big – The Blush Pages. Have you heard of it yet?
This project has been so near and dear to my heart as it serves as a spot for entrepreneurs to learn, connect, and collaborate with one another.
Ever since I can remember, I was the girl with “my head in the clouds” dreaming and scheming the plans for my future.
I guess you could say that dreaming comes naturally to me and I always thought that was true for everyone else, but recently I have realized that that just isn’t the case.
I spoke a little bit about dreams on Instagram and asked my friends and followers a few questions based on dreaming. And while the majority of them agreed they, too, were dreamers, nearly 75% of people said they tend to keep their dreams small. And for this big dreamer, that totally shocked me. If you are having trouble dreaming big you need this DREAM JOURNAL!
So it got me thinking, if most of us are out there dreaming, why are we keeping the dreams so small? Why do we lack the confidence to dream the big ones?
I think it boils down to a few factors:
Even though the sky tends to be the limit for my dreaming, I can totally relate to all of these feelings. But what I’ve started to realize is that if we never dream big, we’ll never know if we can achieve big things.
Our small dreams are limiting the beliefs we have about ourselves and our capabilities and it’s high time we start believing in the power of dreaming bigger.
So what if we don’t reach them? There aren’t any dream police out there writing tickets for dreams that never came true.
So what if we disappoint people? If that’s the case, they weren’t in our corner in the first place. The people who truly cheer for us will never be disappointed by the dreams we’ve chased after that maybe didn’t come true. And the only way to truly disappoint yourself is to never try in the first place. I think you’ll find that the people who love and support you the most just want to see you go after the things that bring you joy. That’s the part that makes them happy for you, not the end result.
Oxford Languages actually defines the word failure as “the omission of expected or required action”. Simply not acting on a dream is, in fact, a sign of failure. So don’t let the fear of failing keep you from chasing those big scary dreams. Just going for it is actually where the success lies, regardless of the outcome.
There is so much power in dreaming big dreams. Without them, we are rarely ever challenged and without challenge, we never push ourselves forward.
Today I want to encourage you to get your head in the clouds, dream up the impossible, and believe in the strength and power within you to turn them into your reality.
And I’ll just be over here in your corner dreaming right alongside you and cheering you on, no matter where things lead!
