Question: What inspired you to start your business?
Answer: I’ve been searching for something that would feed my creative soul and for two years I played around with different mediums of art and nothing was sticking. I came across polymer clay earrings and just knew this was going to be the thing that would spark my creativity and take off. I love being able to create unique pieces of wearable art.
Question What has been the easiest part of running a business? What has been the hardest?
Answer: The easiest and hardest parts of running a business go hand in hand for me. The easy part is having lots of ideas to pull from. The downside of that is I tend to lose focus on the right now because I’m too busy thinking about what’s next. When you own your own business, you’re the boss and the employee. Wearing all those hats can be difficult, and truly, I think that’s where the blush pages will help me organize all my thoughts, ideas, and the roles I have to play in owning my own business.
Question: What keeps you going when things get difficult?
Answer: I think about the alternative – where’d I’d be if I gave up.
Question: What is one tip you would give someone just starting their business?
Answer: Walk away from your work (put down your phone) to be with your people. I believe we can live beautiful lives with the people we love and run a business. I believe that honoring them will lead to joy in the home and more productive work. It’s hard, especially if there are young kiddos in the home, but it’s important. If you have a spouse and/or older kiddos, get them involved. It’s a great opportunity to give your business a family business feel and help them see what you do, most of the time they’re excited to help.
Question: With so many business opportunities out there, how did you know this was the right one for you?
Answer: It’s that nudging from the Spirit of God, the nudge that scares you and excites you at the same time, the one where he says, “This is for you.” And truly, that’s how I felt. The idea kept me up at night and I could see the story that was being written for me before I ever put my hands on clay. It’s a true joy and a true blessing that I get to be able to do this.
