Are you wanting to set business goals for the New Year but don’t know how? Keep reading! Let’s dive into a top-five guide to building a better business in the upcoming calendar year!
What in the world is happening? How are we just weeks away from a brand new year? I don’t know about you, but most days I feel like I’m still trying to make a plan of action for this year and yet we only have a few days left.
It’s so easy to let your new year goals and plans overwhelm you to the point that you do nothing at all (simplify that by getting a business checklist here!). You might be struggling to set those business goals this year. Trust me, I have been there, done that many years as an entrepreneur.
Between rocking babies and chasing toddlers and shuttling pre-teens to yet another practice, it only makes sense that your business gets the leftover hours (or even minutes) at the end of every day. But I want this year to be different for you.
I want you to feel confident in your plan and direction when the calendar flips to January 1st. And I want you to feel as if you’re thriving in all of your roles at home and in business. Heck, I don’t want you to just feel it, I want you to live it!
And I want you to learn how to turn your side hustle into consistent income in this new year! Join me for my free training to help you turn your passions into more profit without adding extra hours to your day!
As far as writing your goals for the new year? I took out all the guesswork and wrote them for you! Obviously, you may have personal goals you’re working towards and I want to encourage you to add those to the list, but if you’re already feeling stuck and overwhelmed by starting the year off right, take these five easy to achieve goals, and run after an incredibly successful year!
I get it. This one is tough! It seems so simple to say, “show up consistently” when we already spend so many hours a day online, but what are we doing with those hours? Scrolling funny reels or creating our own that lead to our business? Reading our friend’s inspirational posts or are we writing our own? Admiring the gorgeous photos from our favorite accounts or working to create our own beautiful grid? I know you open your social apps multiple times a day. We all do!
But in this new year, I want you to be creating content that leads to your brand every single time you open that app or inbox. Get in the habit of posting daily, showing your face as often as possible, and talking about your business like it’s second nature! We can’t talk about our brand once a week and expect people to remember us. We have to be consistent and it has to be daily.
But don’t let that overwhelm you! Showing up daily can look like talking about your business for 60 seconds in your stories. It can look like taking five minutes to write a thoughtful post about your workdays. It can look like making a quick reel using photos and content you already have on your phone. You do not need to reinvent the wheel and spend hours each day, you simply need to show up and show off your business as often as possible!
Get yourself out there in the new year! Be in the business of making friends and working together to build one another’s brands. You know that account you absolutely love to hear from? That gal on the internet that you just feel connected to? Stop simply consuming her content and begin to connect with her! Show up in her DM’s and begin building a friendship that leads to a partnership! Make it a goal to make one new friend a week and plan to participate in at least one collaboration per month!
One of the best ways to grow your audience is to build new relationships and get in front of their audience to serve them with your product or offer!
Much like meeting a friend for coffee, I want you to start meeting with your business at least once a week. It can be at the start of the week, the end of the week, or even the middle. The day is not important as long as you do it every week. Choose whatever day works best for you!
Sit down and check-in with what’s working, what isn’t, and what you want to start implementing. Look at your numbers, at your conversion rates, and your sales. If you feel like the work you’re doing or the time you’re spending isn’t converting, stop what you’re doing and make a new plan. It doesn’t matter how many hours you spend on your business if you aren’t spending them doing the right things! So plan a date with your business each and every week and be sure not to stand yourself up!
One of your New Year’s goals should be to learn a new skill. Are you writing monthly newsletters? Sharing your content through a podcast? Showing up in a weekly blog post? Posting reels and going live?
Whatever it is you aren’t currently doing for your business, stop using the idea that you don’t know how to do it as an excuse! Pick just one thing each quarter and commit to learning how to incorporate it into your business. Whether it’s learning how to navigate WordPress, better understand SEO, or simply create your own graphics, whatever it is, don’t be afraid to learn the new skill and use it to help grow your business.
You may feel like you don’t have the time for this or that it won’t help to move your business forward, but I have to tell you, it’s one of the most important things you can do for your brand!
The saying, “you can’t pour from an empty cup,” is so true. You have to be making time to fill your cup in order to pour into your family and your business. And the best way to fill your cup is to make time for yourself. Each week plan at least one thing for yourself. It doesn’t have to be fancy or cost you any money. Sure, spa days are nice, but so is napping with your kids. Whatever it is you need each week to feel fulfilled and full to the brim, make time for it, no matter what you may have to sacrifice to make it happen!
And that’s it! A top-five guide to building a better business in 2022 and how to set business goals for the New Year! As you work through these goals, I am certain you will uncover more personal goals for yourself. Don’t be afraid to add them to the list and build the ultimate plan for dominating life and business in the new year!
