When it comes to managing your money and getting yourself and your business on a budget, I cannot say enough good things about Dave Ramsey and principles around financial freedom. This past fall, my husband and I had the opportunity to meet Dave and it was such an incredible experience.
Getting to shake the hand of the man who changed the trajectory of our life was something I had on my bucket list for a while. I don’t talk about our debt-free journey often and to be honest, I don’t really know why. But it has changed our family tree.
It wasn’t easy. I wanted to quit many times but after seeing the results I was intrigued and excited and more motivated than ever to see his systems become a success story for our family.
When it comes to building a budget for a business, Dave Ramsey has a great resource that you can access here!
But no matter how you choose to tackle the management side of making money for your business, I have a few tips that have personally been very successful for me and my business. Lets talk about few tips on how you can manage money as a mom-trepreneur!
You want to be sure you have a business account where you save for taxes, business expenses, and maybe even payroll someday. You don’t want this money coming out of your personal accounts to ensure that you keep things organized for your CPA and that you aren’t spending money you don’t have for your business.
For example, the $9.00 you spent for the social media scheduling service, the $32 for the newsletter account, the $15 for the stock photography site, and so on and so forth should be accounted for and covered by your business earnings. Once you know how much money goes out every month you can figure out what is left in order to save and hopefully give yourself a paycheck.
I know this seems like a tedious task, checking in weekly, but your money should be looked after with care. Check your budget often and be flexible to change things as needed. Things change on a daily basis when it comes to running a business and it’s important to know what is happening with your money in order to keep up with the changes as they come.
There are so many things to have in place in order to ensure you are managing your money, but these three tips are a great place to start! Chat with a trusted financial advisor for more ins and outs to setting your business up for financial success! Having a budget and sticking to it will prove to be the best thing you can do for the longevity of a thriving business!
