Pinterest is a marketing tool that is constantly overlooked when it comes to marketing and getting more eyes on your products and services. Stop thinking of Pinterest as a visual search engine for inspirational quotes or Halloween costumes, and start seeing it as a space where you can create pins that lead to past content, sales, freebies, newsletters, and products or services. Users can search keywords or hashtags to find articles or resources on the topic they are looking for and Pinterest will send them straight to you if you match their search. Using Pinterest to market is an incredible way to keep people coming back to your site month after month with minimal effort.
Great question. I have 4 easy tips to help you get started with Pinterest and grow your online reach.
Do you know that personal account you started over a decade ago when Pinterest existed to pin recipes and new home decor ideas? Yeah, don’t use that account. Create a brand new business account using your business name or business IG handle. This will help users recognize you as a business and help them connect you to your other social sites like Facebook and Instagram.
Like 3-5 times a day. I know that sounds like a lot, but I promise you, once you have a bunch of content created and pinned to your account, this will be super easy.
Side note: How many times is too many times to use the word “pin” in a sentence? Hahaha
This will help Pinterest recognize you as an active account and be sure to put you at the front of user searches. And as weird as it may sound, when it comes to Pinterest, recycled content has more authority. So don’t worry about needing to create fresh content daily and focus more on repinning past content to keep people coming back for more.
You may be thinking, “What in the world am I supposed to be pinning?”
It may be easier than you think! Simply create branded graphics that lead people to content you have already created. This can be a blog post, a newsletter, or even a sales funnel. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to Pinterest. Create an attractive graphic and point people back to the content you have already spent time creating!
Pinterest marketing is very familiar to SEO. Because it is such a powerful visual search engine and content gets recycled over and over again, you have to rely on using keywords that you know your ideal client will be searching for to ensure they see your content.
Spend some time learning about SEO, readability, and proper Pinterest presentation. And while I totally understand that may sound like a foreign language to you, it really is super easy to understand once you dig in and do a little bit of research.
