Today we are going to talk about Building an Engaged Social Media Audience and how showing up on your own terms can change the experience.
Social Media is a wild and crazy place to be these days, is it not?
And I’ve found that when I’m showing up on my own terms, it can still be a really fun experience. The biggest key is to build an audience that is actively engaged with the content you share.
But how exactly do you get the right audience looking at your feed?
While I am no expert, I have found a few easy tips that you can start implementing today that will ultimately drive the right people to your brand.
As you set these steps into motion, be sure to always have your ideal client in mind. You’re going to want to think of them with each and every word you write and picture you post.

Okay, but let’s get back to it. How do you build an engaged Social Media Audience?
Show up consistently, stick to the same genre of content your followers are used to, and keep your visual aesthetic as streamlined as possible. People are creatures of habit and they want you to be exactly who you say you are! And they want to see you in their feeds as often as possible. In order for them to feel like they can engage with you, they have to know you. And the best way to help them get to know you best is to stay consistent!
This doesn’t mean you have to consistently post each and every day and spend all of your time on social media. It simply means that you need to show up in the same ways each and every time you open your social apps.
This is where knowing your ideal client is so crucial. Know exactly who they are and what they want to hear. And then be sure to give them what they’re looking for in the content you create.
If your audience feels like you are talking to them, they are more likely to engage with your content and look forward to seeing you in their feed!
I believe that you should always give more than you take when it comes to social media so be sure to give value to your followers. The best way to do this is to teach them something on a consistent basis and offer them opportunities to ask you questions and share their input.
And don’t always be trying to sell them something. I love to follow the 1:5 rule. For every 1 thing you market to sell, offer 5 “freebies” to follow. This doesn’t mean you have to give content or product away, it simply means to offer them something of value for free. A great way to do this is to teach them something about your business that is applicable to their own lives.
If you want your audience to engage with your content, you have to gain their trust. A great way to do this is to welcome them into your daily work and personal life. People want to know you are a real human behind their computer screen so be sure to be as real and authentic as possible.
I know that social media has become a place for beautifully curated feeds but people need a healthy balance of “real life” mixed in so they can relate to you and trust you enough to buy in!
No matter how many blogs you read or courses you complete on helping you grow your audience on social media and find engaged followers, always remember that the most important thing you can do is to be yourself. People are craving real, authentic interactions and if you can be the person to give that to them, you will always win.
