Are you ready to learn how to turn your new year’s goals into an action plan?
What exactly does it look like to turn goals into action? How is it possible to get to that next step of making it happen?
Don’t worry. I’ve got you. In my latest blog, I offered five, easy-to-achieve goals to work towards in the new year. If you missed that entry, be sure to check it out here! Be sure to work your way through those goals before you dig into this content!
Trust me, I am all about making business feel easy for entrepreneurs. Which is exactly why I wrote my course, The Profit Plan. A simplified guide to turning what you love to do into consistent profit for years to come. Grab that course here!
Okay, so let’s look back at the five goals we identified for the new year and simplify them into actionable steps that help you get to work. In my years of entrepreneurship I have learned that if it feels difficult, you probably won’t try it. Let’s make this as simple and streamlined as possible to ensure success!
Show up consistently.
In the new year, in order to turn those goals into action, you are going to commit to showing up online (or in-person if that’s possible for you) at least five days a week. Obviously, you can show up all seven days, but if you’re anything like me, I reserve the weekends for friends and family and that usually doesn’t include time on social media or working on my business. But that’s totally up to you.
At the start of every week, you are going to look at your week ahead and plan time to show up offering value to your business. Get really specific with your planning to be sure you don’t forget. Maybe on Monday at 10 am you are going to go live on Instagram to talk about your product. And then on Tuesday at 1 pm you will post a customer review. Wednesday at 11 am you’ll work on a reel that shares a tip that will help your ideal clients. Whatever it is, schedule every single detail, from the time you’ll do it to the content you’ll share. This will help you stay organized and keep you committed to showing up as often as possible, especially if that’s something you’re not used to doing!
Reach out to friends, followers, and fellow entrepreneurs and ask if you can be a guest in front of their followers. This allows you to get in front of a brand new audience that you’ve never had access to before and the hope is that they’ll love you so much, they’ll come to connect with you!
But what does that look like? I’m so glad you asked! There are a few different ways to secure a guest spot in front of other audiences.
The best way to ensure you’re meeting with your business weekly is to set working hours. In order to keep your mind organized and your time balanced, you have to create them and stick with them as closely as possible.
If you are wanting to turn your new year’s goals into an action plan, at the start of each week, map out the hours you will work each day and be sure to communicate those hours with your employees, customers, and family. We all know that as entrepreneurs, fires arise out of nowhere that need our immediate attention, but if something happens outside of your office hours that isn’t an emergency, work really hard to save it for the next day.
And while you’re meeting with your business each day, be sure to make it a priority to check in with your numbers. How is your content converting? What are your sales? Are you growing your following or email list? It is so important to track these numbers each week and make adjustments if you aren’t seeing the numbers increase from week to week. Showing up consistently won’t mean much for your bottom line if you aren’t doing it in ways that turn into sales. That’s the only way to become profitable!
I want you to think of four new skills that you would like to learn in the coming year. Now break them down into quarterly goals. Every three months, I want you to either take a course, watch some online videos, or enroll in a class that teaches you that new skill. And then I want you to implement that into your business.
And I’m not suggesting you take up welding or anything crazy like that, I simply mean skills that will help improve your business. Maybe you’d like to be better at taking photos. Look for an online photography course. Maybe you want to enhance the look of your blog. Take a class on the backend of WordPress. Maybe you want to be better at writing copy. Search for lessons on SEO and copywriting. Whatever it is that will help you move forward in your business, commit to learning that new skill and make a plan to put them to good use!
I say it all the time, but it’s so true! You have to make time for yourself, no matter how hectic your days may be. And just like everything else, the best way to be successful with this is to plan for it.
At the start of every week, you are going to plan at least one thing for yourself every single day. Sometimes that might look like going out for coffee with a friend and other times it will simply look like binge-watching your favorite show at the end of the night.
Make a list of the things you love and then find little pockets of time for them throughout your week. I promise this will pay dividends in the long run for your business. The more time you pour into yourself, the more productivity you’ll receive for your business!
I hope these five actionable tips leave you feeling encouraged and inspired to tackle your new year with a plan that offers grace, productivity, and a lot of wiggle room as you balance all areas of your life!
It isn’t easy to run a profitable business and raise a thriving family all at the same time, but it’s more than possible! These goals will help you do it! Here’s to you taking back your year before it even begins! I’m cheering for you friend!
